I am a junior mass communication major with a minor in political science at Sam Houston State University working to get my bachelor of arts degree in multiplatform journalism. In addition, I am the Associate Editor for the SHSU independent student newspaper The Houstonian, a publication which I have served for the last three years. I have also had stories picked up by Huntsville, Texas’ local paper The Huntsville Item.
Most recently, I have accepted an internship with Community Impact Newspaper for summer 2015. Post graduation in May 2016, I hope to pursue a career writing in the field of journalism for a local publication.
Prior to attending SHSU, I graduated cum laude from Cypress Creek High School in Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. While in high school I served as a reporter, business manager and news editor for the high school newspaper The Cougar Connection for three years.
My writing niche includes a wide range of flexibility from hard news to soft news, however my favorite stories to write are lengthy features. I enjoy serving as a vessel through which others may tell their personal stories because I believe everyone has a story worth sharing.
In addition to my jobs in the field of journalism, work experience includes working as a cashier for Target and a customer service representative for Farmers Insurance.
